So far
I now, they?must be compatible. CIPE 1.4 has a correction in key decoding
and is only incompatible with previous vertion.

1)
make sure that you have internet connectivity between the two
points.
2)
enable firewall logging at redhat site and watch reject or deny
messages..
3)
start cipsrv.exe in console mode to observe the converstion between cipe
linux
and cipe win32. Specialy key exchange messages.

This
points must work correctly to obtain the first ping between redhat and
windows
gateway.

  -> Linux RedHat 8.0 CIPE ?
Any clues on getting CIPE for Windows
Version 2.0-pre15 to talk to CIPE 1.4.5-11 on RedHat 8.0 would be greatly
  appreciated.
  ?
I have successfully set up a CIPE VPN
between two Linux Redhat 8.0 boxes using the default CIPE software provided
by
RedHat. Each has an ADSL connection to the internet with a static IP and
NAT.?I use port forwarding on the ADSL routers to?get around the NAT
  issue.
  ?
Now I am attempting to connect to one of
these boxes from an NT box via a dial up internet connection, but with no
success.? I have configured a second CIPE interface on the Linux box with
a different port number, key and peer IP address and am attempting to
connect
  to it.
  ?
  CIPE for Windows installed without
complaint but when I attempt to ping the remote peer (from either end of
the
link) I just receive timeout errors.??After a reboot, I looked
through the NT event viewer and found the following error message: "The DKW
Heavy Industries VPN Adapter. Service service hung on starting".?
Subsequent stopping and starting of the CIPE service causes no further
  errors.
  ?
I am reluctant to upgrade to CIPE version
1.5 on the Linux boxes unless absolutely necessary because if I break
anything
it will mean a flight interstate to fix it!
  ?
Any clues to set me in the right
direction in tracking down the problem would be greatly
  appreciated.
