Subject: Very Slow Data

I have XP laptop connecting to internet via dialup modem, distant end is
ADSL (cable modem) to Linux firewall with cipe, then to remote lan with
Interbase Database on Windows 2000 server.

Cipe is working ok. Mapping drives and viewing files etc is ok.

Interbase application is installed on XP laptop and only gets data from
the distant Windows 2000 server.
This is very slow to the extent that the setup is un-useable.

Have disabled modem compression no change.

Note interbase communicates on tcp port 3050.

Should MTU on XP laptop be changed if so where ??

Is the cipe packet size to small ??

Any clues or pointing in the right direction appreciated.

Regards.
