It runs just fine on Redhat 7.3 and 9.0. I can't imagine that Redhat 8.0 is that different
You may need to search through the mailing list if you're having problems compiling.
Since it compiles for you, I think you've mismatched your module and cipe daemon.
Try using 'insmod' instead of modprobe to see which cipe module is being loaded.
Then make sure that it's the module you have just compiled. If it's loading old redhat's
module instead of a new one, then rename or delete the older module.

RPM's on the net install cipe binaries into /usr/bin or /usr/sbin, while 'make install'
will put the binaries into /usr/local/bin. If that's the case then uninstall the cipe RPM
or use absolute path to cipe daemon.

Finally, make sure that your configuration file is correct, owned by the root,
and chmodded to 600. Cipe would not start otherwise.

By the way, I didn't even have to import .config file into my kernel sources. I did
have to make a "linux->linux-2.4" link in the /usr/src directory though.

Also, is red just a POS to run cipe on or what? Seems like a lot of
