Thread-topic: Newbe with config question on Redhat 9.0

I am using RH9.0 and found that the config files do not match the
documentation
I am having an issue where if I create a /etc/cipe/options.cipcb0 and have
the line
'me mynameorip:5111' then running ifup cipcb0 gives me a 'host '' invalid/not
found' error.
If I comment out that line I appear to get a running device but dmesg appears
to
set a default address of 0.0.0.0
Can someone point out what this is about?
I also have a few general question

1. Should I have both NIC cards up and running. One with the internal address
one with the external?
2. Should I create both a ifcfg-cipcb0 and and /etc/cipe/options.cipcb0? It
seems redundent
3. What config files do I need if I plan to run like a device and not like a
service

Thanks for any help
J Deas
