Hi,

after succesfully testing cipe at my wired lan with eepro100 nics I
started configuring cipe for the purpose which it was planned for:

At my laptop on an original orinocco gold pcmcia nic.
The kernel is a 2.6.5, gcc (GCC) 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-6sarge1)

Compiling and modprobing afterwards works like a charm, but the daemon
does not work.

There is no error shown by cipe:

        cipcb: CIPE driver vers 1.6.0 (c) Olaf Titz 1996-2003, 100 \
        channels, debug=1
        cipcb: cipe_alloc_dev 0

The only thing that might be the cause is:

        orinoco_lock() called with hw_unavailable (dev=c2617000)
eth1: New link status: Connected (0001)
eth1: MAC controller error (WTERR). Ignoring.

ifconfig cipcb0 shows:

        cipcb0 Link encap:IPIP Tunnel HWaddr
                POINTOPOINT NOARP MTU:1418 Metric:1
                RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
                TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
                collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
                RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

manually ifconfiging cipcb0 works, but ifconfig cipcb0 up shows:

SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device or address

        ...

        cipcb0 Link encap:IPIP Tunnel HWaddr
                inet addr:172.16.2.200 P-t-P:172.16.2.200 Mask:255.255.255.0
                POINTOPOINT NOARP MTU:1418 Metric:1
                RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
                TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
                collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
                RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

But eth1 has a MAC though:

        eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr **:**:**:**:**:**
                inet addr:172.16.1.200 Bcast:172.16.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
                RX packets:139277 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
                TX packets:1253228 errors:31 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
                collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
                RX bytes:120994667 (115.3 MiB) TX bytes:1804520874 (1.6 GiB)
                Interrupt:3 Base address:0x140

( HWaddr censored for obvious reasons :-)

If the orinocco pcmcia-card support by Wireless LAN, Hermes PCMCIA card
support has difficulties to report the MAC, can I tell the cipe daemon
the MAC manually?

cu
Sascha
