| Configuring Eudora 4 and 5 |
|---|
|
Special thanks must go to Christopher Eykamp for writing and sharing this setup-instuctions! |
| Setting up Eudora - Step 1 |
|---|
|
Copy the file esoteric.epi from the extrastuff folder to the main Eudora program folder (note that this may be a different than the folder where you store your mail.) Extrastuff is a sub-folder in the Eudora program directory. Esoteric.epi allows you to customize certain Eudora settings that users cannot otherwise modify. Restart Eudora after performing this step. |
| Setting up Eudora - Step 2 |
|---|
|
Select Tools>Options from the Eudora menu, and scroll down until you find the Ports section. |
| Setting up Eudora - Step 3 |
|---|
|
Change the SMTP and POP ports to 32025 and 32110, or whatever you have set in GPGrelay. Click OK. ![]() |
| Setting up Eudora - Step 4 |
|---|
|
Again select Tools>Options. Scroll up to "Getting Started", and set the incoming and outgoing servers to 127.0.0.1. Click OK. ![]() |
| Setting up Eudora - Step 5 | ||
|---|---|---|
|
If you only have one personality, you can skip this step. If you are using multiple personalities, you will need to modify each personality such that the POP and SMTP servers are 127.0.0.1 You can do this by selecting Tools>Personalities. Right-click on each personality in turn, and select Properties from the context menu. The SMTP server can be set on the Generic Properties tab, and the POP server can be set on the Incoming Mail tab. You will also need to specify different ports for each personality. Unfortunately, there is no way to configure this from within the Eudora interface. You will need to close Eudora and edit the eudora.ini file that resides in the same folder where your mail is stored. (By default, this is the Eudora program folder). For each personality, find the INI section called [persona-XXXX] where XXXX is the personality name. Insert the following two lines in the section (or, if the lines are already present, replace them with the following):
Each personality needs to have its own POP port number if it uses a different POP address. If all your personalities share a common SMTP address, all the SMTP ports can be the same. Make sure that every port that you have specified in the INI file is properly configured in GPGrelay. Restart Eudora, make sure GPGrelay is running, and check your mail for each personality to confirm that everything is working properly. |
