Axl Rose broke his years of press silence on Wednesday, issuing a statement that sheds some light on Guns N' Roses' first new original music in eight years.

Rose specifically addresses the song "Oh My God," the first cut to feature the band's new line-up, which includes keyboard player Dizzy Reed, ex-Vandals drummer Josh Freese, former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson, guitarist Paul Huge, and Robin Finck, who has since left the band to rejoin Nine Inch Nails.

The song is set to turn up in the upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger thriller "End Of Days" and recently surfaced in television ads for the film. In a lengthy statement, Rose talks about the musicians on the track (guitarist Dave Navarro lends a hand), its inclusion in the film, and reveals that he made it out to the movies at least once to check out the big screen version of "South Park."

Rose's statement in its entirety reads:

"So here's the story behind this music…

"The chorus: OH MY GOD etc. deals with the societal repression of deep and often agonizing emotions - some of which may be willingly accepted for one reason or another - the appropriate expression of which (one that promotes a healing, release and a positive resolve) is often discouraged and many times denied. Emotionally the song contemplates several abstract perspectives drawing from personal expression as well as from the film (End Of Days) and its metaphors. The appropriate expression and vehicle for such emotions and concepts is not something taken for granted.

"Musically the song was primarily written by Paul Huge over two years ago, with Dizzy Reed writing the musical hook of the chorus. Former member Duff McKagan as well as former employee Matt Sorum failed to see its potential and showed no interest in exploring, let alone recording the piece. When the demos were played for the new band, Josh, Tommy and Robin were as they say 'all over it.'

"Once the opportunity was presented, the song was given priority in our recording process. As the verse, performance and lyrics were decided on, for us (that especially includes Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine) the choice became obvious. We were more than pleased Mr. Roswell (the film's music supervisor) agreed! Our thanks to Arnold and all for the consideration - it is an association in which we have always felt honored.

"Paul Huge, Gary Sunshine and Dave Navarro appear on the song as well as Robin Finck. Robin's part was written by Paul and extensively manipulated by our producer, Sean Beaven. Robin was not involved in the writing of the final recording though did participate in the arrangement. All lyrics were written by myself. Additional programming (jack boots, screeching tires, etc.) was by Stuart White.

"The fight of good vs. evil, positive vs. negative, man against a seemingly undefeatable, undeterrable, unrevealed destiny, along with the personal and universal struggle to attain, maintain and responsibly manage freewill can be and often is frustrating to say the least. In America our country's constitutional right to freedom of expression gives us a better chance to fight for that expression than many in other countries enjoy. It can be a big gig, like kickin' the crap outta the devil!

"Power to the people, peace out and blame Canada,

"Axl"

Fans who tuned into the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards caught a snippet of the song when a spot for "End Of Days" aired, and listeners will be able to take in the whole song when the film's soundtrack hits stores November 2. The movie is expected to turn up in theaters on November 24.

As for the next full album from Guns N' Roses, fans will continue to wait as no release date has been set.

THE END OF DAYS TRAILER WITH THE GNR MUSIC WILL BE DOWNLOADABLE SOON

September

It is nearly sure that the new Guns n Roses will be on the soundtrack to the new Schwarzenegger film "End of Days" which will be released in november 24th. I haven`t found the trailer with the music yet but I found an mp3 which contains 15 seconds of the new GNR song. Reactions to the new GNR style are mixed. Most people are pretty shocked by the Manson style of the song but I am happy that GNR will be back at least.

Fans who are anxiously awaiting the debut of the new Guns N' Roses band may have already heard it without realizing it.

Although the GN'R camp has been keeping it quiet, moviegoers who see the Adam Sandler movie "Big Daddy" can get a very brief taste of a new GN'R recording, but only if they stick around well into the closing credits.

As we previously reported, Sheryl Crow's cover of the band's 1987 hit "Sweet Child O' Mine" appears on the "Big Daddy" soundtrack album (see "Sheryl Crow Covers Guns N' Roses, Prepares For Lilith Fair"). But that's not the only version of the track that can be heard in "Big Daddy." In theaters, moviegoers can hear what appears to be a live version of the song by Guns N' Roses played over the movie's end credits. (The song is not included on the soundtrack CD.)

As it turns out, there's even more to it than meets the ear. A spokesperson for the film's music supervisors, Michael Dilbeck Entertainment, confirmed to MTV News that the song "morphs" into a new version recorded by the revamped GN'R.

Speaking for the music supervisors, Lori Lahman says that the initial part of the song features the near-original group (Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Gilby Clarke, and Matt Sorum) recorded live at a concert in Paris. More than halfway through that rendition, the new band -- presumably Rose, guitarists Robin Finck and Paul Huge, drummer Josh Freese, bassist Tommy Stinson, and keyboardist Dizzy Reed -- kicks in with tracks of the same song recently recorded in the studio.

The tune's intro also includes a voice repeating the word, "Figaro," which was a last-minute addition "for fun," courtesy of Rose, says Lahman.

The sessions were produced by Sean Beavan and engineered by Critter. The band and crew is the same team currently at work recording a studio album that will appear under the Guns N' Roses moniker. Rose, the sole remaining original member, retains the rights to the band's name.

Estranged guitarist Slash is telling his official fan Web site that sessions relating to Guns N' Roses' long-rumored live album will be getting underway with mixer Andy Wallace sometime in July. Wallace's management company confirms that the studio veteran is booked for the sessions from July 12 through to the 29th.

The post indicates that Slash and Rose will not at any time be working together on the project; Rose will reportedly be handling the tracks pertaining to vocals with another producer.

A spokesperson for Slash confirms the information, but cautions that a live CD is still not a done deal and that the sessions with Wallace are only exploratory.

The live album has been anticipated as a Christmas release. However, also expected by the end of the year is the new GN'R studio album, although the latter has been "expected" annually for the past five years.

Calls to the band's label, Geffen/Interscope, were not returned.

End of April

MTV says that GNR (whoever is in it right now) does not come to Woodstock cause they simply don`t have a new album released till then. Well we have been waiting for nearly 6 years........ we can wait for some more months.
